Educational Toys for Babies

Educational toys are fun for babies and provide another tool to stimulate learning and brain development in your infant. There are many ways to teach a child and tens of thousands of educational toys on the market to help parents in the endeavor. The challenge for parents, child care providers and educators is to choose from the vast array of educational toys available in a way that creates a balance of learning techniques, is age appropriate, and most of all fun. This article will provide basic facts about; how babies learn, types of educational toys available and examples of each.

How Babies Learn

It is quite surprising the rate at which babies learn and develop. Learning begins in the womb and continues throughout childhood. In early life how a child learns centers largely around the relationship with the parents. At least until the child starts preschool, the job of stimulating and satisfying baby’s desire to learn falls primarily to the parents.

While babies respond to their parent’s voice there are many other sounds they find interesting. When parents are choosing educational toys for babies they should look for toys that have sound, colors that are bright and contrasted like red, black and white, and have interesting textures that babies like to touch.

Sounds

Babies’ respond to sound and some of the best educational toys include rattles and musical toys. Soothing music such as lullabies is usually best. Auditory and musical toys are known to stimulate logical thinking and imagery in babies and in adults for that matter.

One good educational auditory toy is the Electronic Metal Keys. These keys are good for a child 6 months and up. The Electronic Metal Keys are an imitation of the parent’s car keys. However, the Electronic Metal Key toy is safe for the child to chew on and has a push button that emits sounds like a car horn, doorbell, ignition, and remote control door.

Sight

Bright colors in educational toys stimulate baby’s vision. Look for toys with strong color contrast and patterns. A good one to look for is a colorful crib mobile that emits music, has different textures, curves and symmetry.

One such educational toy is the Bath Time Fishing toy. This item is appropriate for babies 12 months and up. It’s a great prop to use during a baby bath. Making the bath as fun as possible can also help overcome any resistance or fear your child may have during the bathing process. The toy is bright in color, has a rod and reel, and the strong magnets attached to its tails allow for easy catching. Bath Time Fishing is priced at around $16.00 dollars.

Fine motor play

Fine motor play educational toys are used to stimulate coordination in baby’s finger and eye movements. One such toy aimed at developing the hand-eye coordination is “Counting Pals”, which is aimed at babies 6 months and up. Counting Pals are 10 soft and squishy colored blocks. They can be stacked, tossed, chewed by the baby. Counting pals also provides animal illustrations that will enchant the baby. Counting Pals educational toy is priced at around $12.00.

Cognitive Skills

There are some educational toys that promote cognitive skills in babies, which is to say they stimulate the child’s memory, how they picture things and their problem solving skills. Educational toys like building blocks, activity boxes or puzzles are a good purchase for your child. The puzzles can deal with numbers, letters or pictures; it does not matter, but they should be fairly easy for a baby to grasp and manipulate.

If you are considering a home based business opportunity, the use of online marketing is going to be crucial. If you are not technologically savvy, have no fears, online marketing is very cost effective, anyone can do it (including internet virgins!), and it can be a whole lot of fun if you understand what you are doingMy goal today, is to get you to understand the big picture of online marketing. If you haven’t been keeping your head in the sand, then you have probably heard a lot of terms thrown around like Facebook, Twittter, MySpace, SEO rankings, LinkedIn, YouTube, Keyword Research, tags, and the list goes on. There is so much information, it can make an online marketing virgin’s head spin and feel so overwhelmed and demoralized, they want to give up. Don’t give up! This article is going to be immensely helpful to you.Let’s go back to the old days for one minute, before the internet existed. The majority of businesses had a physical location, sometimes referred to as brick and mortar. If you are running a home based business opportunity, the only modification is that your brick and mortar will be your website. This will be your hub, where people can get to know you, your business, and how to buy your products and/or services.Once you have the website established, you have 2 simple goals:1. Get visitors to your website (AKA traffic)2. Convert visitors into buyersGetting Visitors to Websites
Getting traffic to a website is far easier and cheaper than it sounds. All of the social media outlets, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc, are simply ways to drive traffic to your website. That’s how these outlets fit into the big picture. The reason they are so well-liked is because they are fast, incredibly effective and FREE. In other words, it doesn’t matter if your budget is limited, you can still drive tons of traffic to your website.Converting Visitors into Clients
Converting your traffic into customers is the name of the game. This is the piece that draws the line in the sand between success and failure. A 5 year old can generate website traffic, but if you are good at converting your visitors into buyers, you can make millions. Some super clever internet marketers, in the 1990s, came up with an effective system for converting website traffic and is called the “sales funnel.” If you can understand and properly implement the sales funnel strategy, you will be a huge success, and it will be so easy, you won’t believe it.There are three goals of a sales funnel:1. build a relationship with the prospective customer2. filter out the people that would not be ideal clients3. generate income on traffic that may or may not buy your big profit item. The reason you can truly make millions with a sales funnel is because of the amazing leverage generated through the internet. You can reach thousands and thousands of people a day, and you don’t even have to be there. It’s all on auto pilot.A sales funnel begins with an “irresistible free offer” on the home page of the website. An irresistible offer is a piece of information or something else that will help solve your ideal client’s problems. Your website offers this piece of information, for free, in exchange for a name and e-mail address, and perhaps other contact details. When the website visitor completes the form, he has immediately taken one step closer to qualifying himself as an ideal client, and you collect his contact details in a database where you can begin establishing a relationship. The name and e-mail address of your website visitor go straight into a program called an automatic responder (A/R), where you house your database. Here, you have set up a confirmation and thank you e-mail sent immediately to your prospect, and includes your free information. Your A/R continues its work over the next several days or weeks by sending follow up e-mails to your prospect , developing your relationship and clarifying how your products or sevices will help him or her solve their problems. At some point in the follow up e-mails, you will offer or recommend products, that simply add to solving the initial problem for which they visited your website. Most sales funnels will begin with selling smaller priced items and then move to bigger priced items. Also in most cases, the smaller priced items are not necessarily your major source of profit…but if you are only focused on selling the big ticket item, then you are missing an important piece of the sales funnel. For each product your prospect purchases, he continues to qualify himself and, eventually, will sell himself on your big ticket item, without you doing a thing! In addition, the small ticket items help cover your costs of operating…so when you finally sell your big ticket item, the profit is all profit. There are NO expenses to cover.I hope that you can see the power of the sales funnel and that I have clarified how it leverages the internet to build thousands of relationships, lets the customer self qualify and puts money in your pockets, all while you sleep. If you are a network marketer, or considering network marketing, I have a sales funnel all set up for you to begin using today, with the ultimate goal of selling distributorships in your network marketing business. If you set yourself up with this sales funnel, I have no doubt you will be one of the top producers in a short time, and it involves absolutely no chasing of friends and family, hotel meetings or asking friends to host a party in their home. This is the exact technique used by the top producers in your MLM business, but they fail to share that with you. Professional Cleaning Services for Small Business Owners

Small businesses face many unique challenges but hiring a professional cleaning service means image won’t be one of them. Budgets are tight and a smaller company often must run on a leaner financial platform than larger competitors. When identifying where to cut corners, the small business owner might be tempted to skimp on professional cleaning services, however, many benefits to this service make the investment worthwhile. Most successful small businesses find ways to get a leg up on the competition, and presenting a professional image is one critical way to achieve this goal. Many potential clients prefer working with a small business but how many will be willing to take a chance on a small company with a disheveled office or facility. A small business owner who thinks and acts like the big business leader he or she aspires to emulate has a greater chance of achieving those goals.Professional janitorial services will help give the very best image for your company when customers visit. No one wants to be judged on appearance but the reality is that appearance – yours or that of your business – makes that critical first impression.. That first impression will become a lasting perception. Think about how you rate a potential employee or vendor; your future clients are likely to evaluate you and your business in the very same way. If that first impression is of a messy, dirty office, they may believe that you are already too busy to provide excellent service or – worse – that you simply don’t care. The other critical mistake a small business owner may make is to attempt to self-clean the office or perhaps even ask employees to do it. Employees in a small business are likely few in number and probably already covering a variety of job duties. Don’t ask them to play janitor too! You’ve chosen your employees carefully and they represent one of your most valuable assets. Asking them to provide office-cleaning services in addition to everything else may leave them feeling devalued and send them in search of other employment opportunities. Many professional cleaning services offer packages designed specifically for the small business and medical or dental clinics. Daily cleaning service may be overkill for a very small company today, both in terms of need and cost, but you may need that level of service in the future (or now if you run a medical office). Select an office janitorial service that will adapt to your company’s changing needs, allowing you to choose a less aggressive office cleaning schedule now, and ramping up the level of service as you grow the business.Running a business of any size is challenging; running a small business requires critical thinking and tough decisions. One decision that’s both easy and wise is to make sure your company presents the very best image possible by hiring a commercial cleaning company to keep you in tip-top shape. As an added bonus, your employees are likely to be sick less and more productive.

All About No Closing Cost Home Mortgages

Have you seen any of those banners on the Internet, “No Closing Cost” home mortgages? Do you question whether or not they too good to be true? Believe it or not, sometimes they are true. I did one of these a few years back. Usually the deal is that you need to be refinancing your existing home mortgage, so your home mortgage company can roll the costs of the loan into your new home mortgage.

Typically you can qualify for this type of arrangement without closing costs when you are refinancing for less than your house is worth. Bottom line, the lender wants to make sure that there’s some equity in the property, in order to minimize their risk. When the home mortgage company completes this type of loan, they actually get to increase the amount of the loan by a little, which are the closing costs that you aren’t paying. So technically you have closing costs with this type of loan, money just isn’t coming out of your pocket at closing.

Alternatively, your home mortgage company may mean that they are waiving their fees for the closing. Although this would save you money, you still have to pay the appraiser, the closer, etc. So, my recommendation is it’s best to ask if you will have to bring money to the closing for anything.

If you are purchasing a home, a “No Closing Cost” home mortgage may mean something different. It may mean that your home mortgage company waives their fees, but you still have to pay the appraiser, the lawyer, the home mortgage broker. This may mean that you have to bring a few thousand dollars or more to the closing.

These days, it really is not enough to rely on the good faith estimate for your home mortgage. Once you get it, call an attorney who handles home closings. Have the attorney figure their estimate for closing costs. Unless you’re practiced at reading the good faith estimate, you may find that the difference between this estimate and what you actually pay at closing may be $3,000 or more. I have experienced this at closing mostly because of the timing of the home closing. If the closing is at or near the beginning of the month, the prepaids (interest, insurance and taxes) may be much more than if closing were completed at the end of the month.

There are some “No Closing Cost” home mortgages that have everything rolled into them. With these mortgages, the only money you will need is for owner’s title insurance. All lenders require you to buy an insurance policy called Title Insurance for them. That means that if someone sues you claiming that the property is really theirs, the insurance company will have to pay. This policy really just protects the lender. To protect yourself, you need owner’s title insurance. It is very cheap, and now often comes with some identity theft protection. I recommend that you ask about it. Most of the time it cost less than the carpet in one room to protect your investment.

Technically for either definition, the closing isn’t really free. Even if you aren’t paying the home mortgage company, there will always be some other people to be paid. Question is, do you want to pay now or later. In my experience, the closing costs are so little in comparison to a home mortgage that it can make sense to roll them into a home mortgage. So ask if this is possible.

Thanks to advances in technology and changes to banking laws, the cost to get a home mortgage is dropping. Eventually, rates will rise and No Closing Cost home mortgages will go the way of 0% financing for car loans. Take advantage of the great deals while they are around.

Small Business Marketing Plan – Increase Your Business Profit Without Breaking Your Marketing Budget

Most small business owners fail when it comes to their small business marketing plans. They’ve got excellent technical skills in their line of work, but that just doesn’t translate to having effective marketing skills.

As a result, profitability of many small businesses has been declining over the years. Ever increasing competition is making it more challenging in many ways. For those businesses that aren’t losing money, most are not producing the profit they could be if they knew how to market themselves properly.

These business owners usually just copy what they see other businesses doing, or they follow the advice of some media sales person. The problem is they copy the wrong types of businesses, and the media sales people typically only know as much about effective marketing as the business owner does.

Without the right kind of marketing system in place, the success of any business is by pure chance. To help remedy this situation, below are seven things a small business can do to increase profits while spending less on marketing.

1. Use the power of free stuff

Everyone likes getting free stuff and you can use that to your advantage. If your business lends itself to giving away free samples of your product, do that. It helps get people hooked on it. Business profits have boomed on this marketing model.

As Chris Anderson author of the book titled, “Free: The Future of a Radical Price” says, “You can make make money giving things away.” In his book he talks about how businesses are giving away products and services they used to charge for, and in return, a percentage of their customers are buying something else. As a result, they are making more money than ever.

When you give something away, you often activate a universal law called the “Law of Reciprocity.” It says that when people get something free, they feel obligated to do something for you. Obviously it doesn’t work every time, but it does work enough of the time.

But there is another way to give away free stuff that can greatly benefit your business. When you do it right you get something very valuable in return: customer contact info…which leads us to the next tip.

2. Start capturing customer contact info and use it

One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make is not tapping their current customer base. They let customers visit their business (online or offline) all day long without ever trying to capture their contact info so they can continue to market products or services to them.

You likely know how expensive it can be to get a new customer. But you can market to your current customers for little or no cost. Capturing and using customer contact info can mean the difference between a profitable business and one that barely gets by.

Your business has more customer value in it than a customer can possibly digest in a short visit so if you aren’t continually marketing to your customers, you are throwing money away!

You can make customer contact capture easier simply by using the power of free from tip number one. Simply start a monthly drawing to give away something free and print some registration slips visitors can fill out. Also have people register online on your website.

Tell customers they only have to register once for all drawings and you will contact them monthly via email to let them know who won. Of course you will always include an offer for a product or service!

What do you give away? Anything with a perceived value makes a great free item. Free items do not have to be expensive. Buy something on sale at WalMart or at eBay and offer it. You can also offer free informational reports that help people solve their problems. People are always looking for ways to solve problems they are having.

Of course, once you capture this information you have to do something with it. If you’re too busy to take on any more work, then the next tip will help you out.

3. Use automated tools to keep in touch with customers

Once you have a customer list, I recommend you send a minimum of 25 “messages” a year to it. A message could be an email, direct mail piece, fax, or phone call.

If you don’t use an automated tool to do the work for you, you’ll likely be too busy to get the job done. When you automate, your messages go out regardless of how busy you get (the more messages that go out, the busier you’ll get).

One tool you can use is an email autoresponder, which is a web-based system that sends out emails when someone signs up. It sends out emails at intervals you set up. You can also set it up to send an email on a specific day, such as a holiday.

The great thing about an autoresponder tool is that you enter your messages in the autoresponder one time, then it automatically sends emails to your list. You can also broadcast messages any time you want.

Using this tool, keeping in touch with your customers is easy and it will help keep the competition from creeping in and stealing your customers because they’ve forgotten about you and the services you provide.

4. Stop marketing like you’re a big business.

Marketing a small business like it’s a big business is something almost every small business owner does. They just copy the marketing they see being done at large companies with big brands. This kind of marketing is called “brand identity,” “brand building,” or “image” marketing.

This is a HUGE waste of advertising money for a small business. You simply don’t have the resources you need to support a successful branding campaign.

Brand advertising typically has no “call to action,” (they don’t ask you to do anything). They just give you features of the product or service, or they entertain you without asking you to do anything.

Brand advertising is usually benefit free. The viewer has to determine if there is a benefit to them. It may contain a list of features and the user will have to assign their own benefit to each feature. It is usually focused on the product or provider of the product instead if the customer.

A successful marketing campaign for a small business is created around direct response marketing techniques.

5. Use old fashioned direct response techniques in new ways

The kind of marketing plan that works for a small business is direct response marketing. It doesn’t require a huge marketing budget to use effectively. It can be used for all types of products and services.

And the good news is that you don’t even have to hire an advertising agency to do it since it doesn’t require creativity. All you have to do is learn the basic structure of direct response marketing and you can easily increase the sales your business makes.

Direct response sales copy always asks the reader or viewer to take some sort of action i.e. “Call in the next 5 minutes, and we’ll include a free set of Ginzu steak knives!”.

It may ask for the sale directly if a full “sales presentation” was done (one-step advertising), or it may ask them to request more information (two-step advertising). It will at a minimum, ask the reader to take some form of “traceable” action so you know if it is working or not.

There should always be a headline for written advertisements! Never put your company logo at the top of a direct response advertisement. That’s brand advertising.

Whenever you create an advertisement in any form always look at them from the customer point of view. Look it and ask “Who gives a crap?” about everything in it. Do you think the customer cares about your logo. No! They care about what you can do for them. Put in benefits and not features. Let the customer know what’s in it for them. A successful direct response ad for a small business includes several things:

An offer to buy something
Sufficient information for the consumer to make a decision to act now (or directions on how to get more info)
An explicit “call to action” sooner rather than later
A clear way to respond such as a telephone number or web page
A means of tracking the response.
Direct response advertising is not just used for mail campaigns. You use it in all forms of media: print, web, mail, and broadcast. Take a look at all the advertising you are currently doing no matter where it is and start making the change now.

6. Use the Internet to advertise for free

Even though websites as we know them have existed since around the early 90s, only 49%* of small businesses currently have a website *9/08, Barlow Research. It’s surprising how many businesses do not understand how powerful this marketing tool is. If you don’t have a website, get one because there is no better source of free advertising!

The Internet has hundreds of “Web 2.0″ websites where you post “content” for free. The content can be text, videos, or audios you create and it can lead people to your business. Plus, it helps establish you as an expert in your field.

EzineArticles.com is one such place you can post content. There was no charge to post this article. All I had to do is write it, post it, and then you found it.

You can put links in the “author resource” section, to drive traffic to a page on your website. The articles you post in EzineArticles can rank extremely well in Google search results with a little help from you.

You also want to get your business listed in places like Google Local if you do local business. Once again this is absolutely free.

Once you learn how to do use the Internet for promotion you’ll have a head start on the future of advertising and you get customers for free!

7. Outsource routine marketing tasks so you can work on the growing your business

One of the biggest problems small business owners have is that they get so consumed by working IN their business, they don’t have time to work ON their business. So no growth can occur.

When it comes to marketing yourself on the Internet, there are ways to use “virtual assistants” to do most of the work for you. A virtual assistant is someone you hire on a full or part-time basis who does the work for you.

But a virtual assistant is not a direct employee so you don’t provide benefits or have the normal hassles of an employee. They are usually located somewhere in the world that has low-cost wages so they are very affordable. That’s the beauty of the Internet and the communication it provides.

Virtual assistants aren’t just confined to small business marketing plan tasks though. They can do almost anything for you: reservations, schedule appointments, answer phones, customer service, send flowers, buy a present for your spouse, find someone to fix your car, website development, accounting, software development, writing, graphics, or anything you need.

There are lots of resources on the Internet that can help you find a virtual assistant.

However, few people know the true origins of penny auctions.Beginnings actually stretch back to the Great Depression. Those were hard times for everyone, but even harder for farmers. Farmers struggled to bring in steady income because of droughts and crops not selling as well as they had previously. As a result, the banks would foreclose on the farmers who couldn’t keep up with their mortgage payments.

The banks weren’t satisfied with just repossessing the house, they wanted to raise as much capital as possible, so they resorted to selling off the possessions of the owners of the repossessed houses. There was not much the farmers could do about it so they began bidding ridiculously low prices, pennies, on the items while threatening others who dared to bid higher than a few pennies.

The auctions of today hardly resemble their tremulous beginnings. Being part of a penny auction today is exhilarating, fun, and addictive. It combines the selling format of auctioning with a little bit of chance factored in.Auctions are a game of strategy but also a game of luck.

The premise behind penny auctions is giving people the chance to win an item at a drastically reduced price.Auctions make that possible by spreading out the cost of the product among multiple bidders. In order for a person to take part in an auction, they must pay a set price for each bid. For example, if a person wanted to bid on a fifty dollar Amazon gift card then he would spend a dollar for each time a bid placed. If he ended up winning the gift card, then he would only have spent a few dollars for a fifty dollar gift card. Usually penny auctions sell bids in packages.

HOW PENNY AUCTIONS WORK!

The main foundation of penny auctions is the pay-per-bid format. It is the key that allows bidders to win items at the fraction of their retail value and allows the auction owners to keep their site profitable. Most y auction sites run on the same premise: people pay a set amount for each bid, whenever a person places a bid within the closing seconds of the auction time will be added, the last person left with a unique bid after the clocks runs out will win the item. There are a large variety of items that can be won, but they tend to be popular electronics or gift cards to popular stores.

There are two types of auctions: lowest unique bid auction and highest unique bid auction. Lowest unique auction sounds confusing but it is actually quite simple. A unique bid is when only one person has a bid at a certain price. Bids usually start at one penny, a bidder can then place a bid at two pennies. Until another bidder places a higher bid, the most recent bidder will be the lowest unique bid because that was the only bid at two cents and nobody bid higher. However, penny auctions generally don’t stop at one penny. It is not uncommon to find auctions that end up at a couple hundred dollars based on the popularity of the item being auctioned. However, the same principles apply for those auctions. Highest unique bid auctions follow the more traditional auction format such as eBay. The person with the highest bid at the end of the auction wins the item.

Auction site owners turn a profit by selling bids. Say twenty people are bidding on a ten dollar gift card at one dollar per bid, at the end of the auction if there were twenty bids placed in total then the site owner would have made twenty dollars with a ten dollar profit.Auctions do seem like a win-win situation:The site owner makes money while the bidder gets an item for dirt cheap. However, not everyone wins in penny auctions. The people who paid one dollar each bid but left with nothing to show for their investments will not be so happy.

HOW TO WIN!

Penny auction has a lot of chance mixed into it, but one can incorporate strategy that will help raise the chances of winning. Playing smart can make all the difference between gambling and auctioning.

The first crucial tip to winning penny auctions is to know how to manage your bids. Your goal should be to win as much as possible without spending a ton of money buying bids. Managing your bids means that you should already know how much you are willing to risk in order to win an item. The amount of capital you are willing to risk will determine how many bids you can use. Once you know how many bids you have to spend on an item, then you will be better able to manage how and when you place a bid. That will keep you from blowing away all of your bids in the first few seconds of the auction.

The next tip is to practice time management. When fighting in the trenches of penny auctions, you have two enemies: other bidders and time. Knowing when to bid is a must if you want to have success. Placing a bid when there is a lot of time left on the clock is never a good idea. You have to remember that the key to winning a penny auction is being the last one standing when the clock runs out and that each bid increases the amount of time left. It would be a good practice to wait until the last few minutes of the auction before you begin to bid.

The final tip for successful auctioning is to keep your emotions under control.Auctions have a lot of similarities to gambling, and just like gambling, your spending can get out of control. If you keep your emotions level, it will keep you from making rash decisions and blowing loads of cash. Keep your mind clear so that you can gage the behavior of the other bidders and outsmart them.

HOW TO AVOID SCAM SITES!

Penny auctions are a great addition to the web whether you want to win an item that otherwise you wouldn’t be able to afford or if you simply enjoy the thrill that comes with bidding in auctions. Unfortunately, scam sites have tarnished the reputation of the legitimate penny auction sites. However, there are ways that you can protect yourself from scamers and enjoy your auctioning without having to worry about losing your money due to dishonesty.

Checking the reputation of the auction site before you start spending your hard earned money is always a good idea. Chances are other people have tried the site before you and some of them have left reviews. The reviews are your way to gage whether a auction site is trustworthy or not. If a site is getting overwhelmingly negative reviews, then that is a clear indication that you should steer your business elsewhere.

Another tool you can use to protect yourself is checking the Alexia ranks of the auction sites. Alexia rank will give a solid view of how much traffic the auction is getting. If you see a huge difference in the amount of traffic Alexia is projecting and the amount of active bidders on the site, then warning signals should be ringing in your head. Some auction sites have been known to set up robots that automatically bid on projects in order to keep the auction going and inflate the price. That is known as shill bidding. You can sniff out those sites by comparing the traffic the site should be getting to the amount of users using this site.

CONCLUSION!

New legislation may come out later down the road that will officially make penny auctions gambling, but until then, it is a fun, exciting auction that allows one to win the item they’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford.Auctions are also quite lucrative for the site owners because of the pay-per-bid strategy they’ve incorporated. Penny auctions had humble beginnings with farmers who just wanted to get back at the banks who kicked them out of their house. More recently, auctions have enjoyed an explosion in popularity with the rise of the internet.

There are two main formats fora auctions, lowest and highest unique auction, however they both run on the same premise where the last unique bid wins the item. Winning a penny auction will require a certain amount of mental tactic and a bit of luck. However, you can increase your odds of winning by practicing certain techniques such as managing your bids wisely, learning how to work with the time, and keeping a level head and your emotions under control. When you combine those three strategies to your bidding plan, you will find that you win a lot more often.

It is important that you do your due diligence to protect yourself when participating in auctions. Not every auction is run by honest and trustworthy people. There are people out there who just want to take your money. You can protect yourself by ensuring that you only bid on sites that already have a very positive reputation from real users.
